Flexible Thinking Agenda

1. What is the mental model and what does it mean?

Participants use the model to discover their Thinking Preferences and the preferences of others. That knowledge is applied to understand and improve a wide variety of work situations.

2. How can the mental model be used as a tool to change perspectives?

Discover what happens to physiology, feelings and thinking when people step into a different mental culture to change perspectives. Discover the conscious and unconscious (mental and physiological) strategies that participants use to change perspectives. Facilitate a change in beliefs away from negative judgments about some perspectives in the model towards appreciation of their value.

3. What is the relationship of brain physiology to mental diversity and creativity?

Develop awareness of the brain's physical and mental adaptability. Develop appreciation for how balance stimulates creativity.

4. What do the individual and team HBDI profiles mean?

Appreciate the extensive mental diversity in each individual and all groups. Understand the implications of mental diversity for an organization and how it affects the way individuals communicate and function. Understand how to use the model to anticipate or troubleshoot culture clashes when companies or departments merge.

5. Applications activities to build skills

Work satisfaction and careers applications
People will discover what work content they find most and least satisfying and motivating. That knowledge provides the insights for choosing the most satisfying careers and learning how to use work content as a motivator for themselves and others. The models will also be used to improve interviewing skills.

Strategic thinking, project planning and implementation applications
People will develop skills to use the Strategic Thinking Model as a tool for accessing a variety of perspectives and balancing their thinking. Individual and small group activities will be used to advance work projects and address current organizational issues.

Team Building
Team members will be familiarized with the thinking preferences of their colleagues so they can appreciate and integrate the mental diversity in their team. Individuals and small teams will work on projects and organizational issues to develop application skills while advancing the status of the projects.

Communications applications
Flexibility will be developed with communications styles in order to improve understanding and rapport. It is intended to reduce the tendency to fall into the trap of saying the same thing over again, only louder.
